Description

The tight clump of stars is a globular cluster. These clusters
are very old and formed early in the universe - over 10 billion years ago. There are about 150 of these orbiting around the Milky Way galaxy. This one is the Hercules Cluster (NGC 6205) and it is 22,000 light years distant. It contains over 100,000 stars.
